A Day At The Denver Zoo

For the 4th of July Weekend, Jason took Friday off and the family headed to Denver to visit the Zoo. It was quite warm and steamy but I think everyone had a wonderful time. Evan loved seeing all of the animals and riding the train! Baby Girl wasn't quite as interested but I still think she had a good time. Evan even said he would like to go back and do it again. Maybe sometime soon! Enjoy some of our pictures from the day!

Fish Creek Falls

We decided to go "hiking" up to Fish Creek Falls today. It is right outside of Steamboat and it was gorgeous. We have had lots of rain this weekend but decided to chance it this morning when it was sunny and get outside. We only made it about half and hour before the rain clouds moved in. It wasn't that great of a hike to the observation area, so we thought we would try it. We have had fairly warm weather this past week and it has really melted all the snow in the mountains. It sure made for a lovely picture. *WARNING* I have no make-up on and had not washed my hair yet this morning so I am LOVELY! Also, Baby Girl was NOT in the mood for this trip and cried for about 78% of it. That also made for some lovely pictures. We plan on going back again when the weather is nicer and perhaps even take a lunch and hang out for a while!

Dig This!

Steamboat Springs and the Lions Club put on a fabulous event for the children this past Sunday. It is called Dig This. It is a opportunity for children under 14 to "drive" bulldozers and excavators. Evan is obsessed with diggers and cranes so this was right up his alley. He had the chance to drive both but chose to only drive the excavator. He was very patient in line waiting his turn and looked like he was in a trance the whole time. I am not sure he even smiled once. But I know he had a good time. I was downloading the pictures onto the computer today and Evan saw them over my shoulder. He said, "Mama I dig a hole". So precious! I am glad he got the chance to do it....seems like a chance of a boyhood lifetime!

Happy Birthday to ME!

So I turned the big 3-1 on Friday. We had fairly lovely weather for the best day ever! I love my birthday....I don't know why. Jason came home "early" (2 pm). After playing outside with the neighborhood kids and chatting their parents, we came inside and had a wonderful dinner. Followed up by presents and angel food cake. The children were for the most part good. Evan kept saying it was his birthday and he wanted his cake! Here are a few pictures from the day. The last one is of the hummingbird that has discovered my feeder. I just love hummingbirds!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms! I had a wonderful mother's day. It started out with me getting to sleep in (kind of rare), followed by breakfast in bed (french toast prepared by Jason). We played outside with the kids (until it got too windy), then we curled up on the couch and watched a movie while the kids were asleep, and had a fabulous dinner (again prepared by Jason). It is so nice to take it easy. Yesterday, we played at our next door neighbor's house. It was Carter's 2nd Birthday. Carter is Evan best friend, even though he is a year younger. Most of the pictures were from the party but I thought they were too cute not to post.
