Auntie JJ has arrived...

*

...and not a moment too soon. We are very glad to have her here and Evan couldn't be more excited. Another person to play with! We actually ventured to the mall today for a short trip. Boy was the mall crowded. I am not sure what they are talking about with this "troubled" economy. The people came out in masses to buy, buy, buy. Here are some pictures of the girls at home yesterday and lunch today. Enjoy.

Baby Girl got her first sponge bath at home today. I know I always feel a little bit better after I have had a bath. I don't think she realized what was coming and I am sure she didn't enjoy it very much. Evan had a blast checking out what was going on with his baby sister. He has been a big helper with Avery and loves to give her lots of gentle kisses on her forehead. The last pictures are from after the bath. I think she looks more relaxed and quite content!

On Our Way Home

We finally got our marching orders yesterday and it wasn't a minute too soon. We are all glad to be back in our own home. No nurses coming in every five minutes wanting something else. Good Grief. As you can see, the car ride home hardly phased the Queen B. Mom however had more of a tight squeeze in the car. I think the next step is a minivan.....NNNNOOOOOO! It is kind of hard to see since we had to bundle her up for the freezing Indiana weather, but Queenie loves her outfit from her Auntie JJ!

Pics From Today

I think everyone is just about over being at the hospital. There isn't much for Evan to touch and play with so he quickly loses patience. I am over the food and sitting around all day. I will be very happy to get home to my own surroundings. Overall though we had a nice day. Avery is looking more and more like herself. The swelling and bruising is subsiding quickly. I still can't get over how tiny she is. From the sight of my pregnant belly, you would have thought she was going to be a 10 pounder! Here are some pictures from today. Evan loves looking at his baby sister. He would love to touch her, but we haven't quite learned how to be gentle and easy with the new addition. I am scheduled to leave tomorrow morning and it is not a minute too soon. We hope to keep updating the blog with pictures so stay tuned.....

Look at what I found...
Maybe she won't notice if I just touch her here....

Okay....I give up!

Good Lord! Look at the skis!
For such a tiny kid, I have huge feet!

Avery Carrington Has Arrived!

Preparing for the hospital.

Signing in

Yep. This bed will do!

Baby Girl finally arrived after much ado yesterday. I arrived at the hospital at 6 am and was hooked up to the pitocin drip. Yikes those contractions are no good! After about 10 hours I was finally dilated to 10 cm. Ready to push. Avery, on the other hand, had other ideas. In a normal delivery, the baby comes straight out with her chin to her chest to make it easier to slide on out. Well little miss trouble maker was angled to the left with her head cocked backwards. And every time that I would push, it would just push her head farther backwards. She was also having heartbeat decelerations every time I had a contraction. Most of the time her heartbeat was around 140 bpm until the contractions would come. They would then dip to around 50 and would slowly return to normal. Because of her extremely rare presentation, Dr. Foster said that there was no way she would come out vaginally and would have to be delivered by C Section. It wasn't the way we had planned the birth but kids always seem to throw you curve balls and I just wanted her to be out and healthy. She came out at 6:54 pm, weighed 7 lbs. 0 oz. and was 20 1/4 inches long. She has some hair but certainly not as much as Evan did! Her hair is a little lighter with blonde eye brows. Maybe this one will look like me! She had quite a bit of swelling and bruising from trying to make her difficult entry. The swelling has gone down a lot today and the bruising and redness is slowly but surely subsiding. She looks so tiny compared to Evan.

Pictures from after Avery was born!

Gigi and her Queenie

It is a dark photo, but here is a picture of her hair.
Poor, tired little girl!

The proud big brother (check out my button-It says "I'm a Big Brother")!

We are hoping to put a video up of the C Section for anyone who wants to see it. But until then, enjoy the pictures. Hopefully there will be more to follow soon!

Queen Gigi Has Arrived!

Queen Gigi has arrived. Here is a small video snippet of her arrival. I am clearly not a very good photographer. And the stupid lady would not get out of the way! We are so glad that Gigi made it for Avery's birth (since she missed Evan's by only an hour). Tomorrow is the big day and we will keep everyone as posted as possible!

Avery Update

We had another ultrasound today. This time they estimated her weight to be 6 lbs. 12 oz.! Yikes!
That is nearly 2 pounds in two weeks. Cripes! Hopefully she won't continue on this pace. I have another ultrasound next Wednesday, so we will keep you posted. She looked good otherwise. Moving all about, practicing her breathing and trying to suck her thumb. Just like her mother already. We have a tentative date scheduled for the induction. It is November 19th. That is always subject to change. As some of you may remember, Evan came a week before his scheduled induction date. Hopefully Avery will be a little more cooperative! I thought I would also include a picture I took this morning of Evan. It was too cute to pass up! Enjoy.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Sarah and Wendell came over from Frankfort to visit with our little turkey. What else would the child of two Hokies be! Be sure to check out Sarah's shirt. Too funny! For those who don't know, she is 21 weeks pregnant with a girl!
And yes, I am huge. Only 3 weeks left.
Evan had the most fun putting the candy in his bucket....and touching the grass. Sometimes we have attention span issues. What a great time!

And a couple of videos too!
